Christmas was good. New Year was okay.

Why I feel inclined to give everyone a status report, I don't know, but there you go.

DADT getting a lot of news coverage lately. You can kick a policy out the door, but mindsets don't change over a bunch of signatures on a piece of paper.

Can you support freedom of speech and freedom of the press, and everything the Bill of Rights upholds, but not support something like WikiLeaks? We give guns to people but we don't condone violence, all men are created equal unless you're 'some not-white immigrant' or 'some not-Christian scum' - I suppose we're all hypocrites, one way or another.

'End of war in Iraq', he says three days ago, while the bullets are still flying and countless Iraqi civilians are being left for dead. Give the 12 year old boys submachine guns and tell them to defend their own country, and while you're at it, why don't you drive down to each little suburb back home here in America and tell the families and friends of the 4400 men killed in service that the war was a total waste of time? After all, no one supports it anymore - that'll win you the 2012 election for sure.

I'd be happy with the decision, but you could have done more to hide the Afghanistan agenda. Well, why not? It's not like anyone's going to employ those jobless Americans wandering the streets, let alone the wheelchair-bound veterans or those with PTSD struggling to reintegrate back into society. Let's just ship them out again and get them killed, in true American fashion.

Uh, no, I don't think so. Despite all that's been done, it's still called the Department of Defence, not the Department of Assault Against Arabs, Gays and Vegans.

There are good American citizens dying on foreign soil. It's not just about the donkeys butting heads with each other.

If duty calls, I won't say anything, but I'm hoping for a quiet one this year.

Withdrawing troops from Iraq as promised, almost halving troops in Haiti - politicians who keep their promises? Never thought I'd see the day.

Haiti's not much better off even after throwing soldiers and money at it. Politicians who learn from past mistakes? Still don't exist. I don't know how long I have to wait before I see that one.
